High-protein homemade gummies are a thing, and my kids LOVE them for breakfast. Made with eggs, butter, yoghurt and gelatin – all the good stuff.
Grab your Thermomix (or a saucepan and a blender), because we’re making the most fun kids’ brekkie. These gummies are packed with real-food ingredients that shop-bought gummies wish they had.
The kids see “jelly for breakfast” and lose their minds. I see a whack of protein, gut-loving gelatin, healthy fats for their brains, and no packet nasties. Best bit? The whole batch takes just 8 minutes to make. Add these to your meal prep weekend list.
Why you’ll love these gummies!
Real food ingredients — eggs, butter, yoghurt, gelatin, real fruit… no packets
Protein-packed — with no powders in sight
Gut-loving gelatin — to make collagen, repair the gut lining, joints, all the good stuff
Kid-approved — my babes think they’re eating dessert for breakfast
Ridiculously flexible — berry, mango-lime, passionfruit, take your pick
Sets in 2 hours — no fancy equipment needed
Can I swap things out?
Dairy-free – Coconut oil instead of butter, coconut yoghurt instead of cows. Still gorgeous, still sets.
Egg-free – Skip the eggs and bump gelatin up to 3 Tbsp. Slightly less silky but still lovely.
Honey swap – Maple syrup, or a really ripe mashed banana for natural sweetness.
Gelatin swap – Agar agar could work too!
Flavour variations you’ll love
The base is berry, but this recipe takes flavour swaps beautifully. Keep the fruit-to-liquid ratio roughly the same:
Mango + lime
My kids’ fav. ½ cup frozen mango and the juice of a lime.
Passionfruit
Mine. 4 fresh passionfruits (strain the seeds if the kids fuss).
Peach + vanilla
Swap the berries for ½ frozen peach and add an extra tspn of vanilla.
Choc + banana
Skip the fruit, add 2 Tbsp cacao and a mashed banana.
Piña colada
Frozen pineapple + coconut yoghurt. Holiday for brekkie.
Dessert, my kids love this with a few pieces of chocolate
Leftovers & meal prep
Store in an airtight container in the fridge, 4 days easy. I pack a small container with an ice pack for the lunchbox and they hold up beautifully until lunch. If you’re doing a weekend cook-up, make a double batch in a couple of flavours and rotate throughout the week.
Perfect for the toddler morning-tea slump too. My babes ask for these by name.
Let me show you how to make a batch…
Pop the butter, honey and gelatin into your Thermomix bowl to start.
Then in with the berries, eggs and lime juice. Cook 8 minutes at 80°C on Speed 2… this melts the gelatin and cooks the eggs
Once it’s cooked, tip in the yoghurt and blitz 30 seconds on Speed 8. This is where it fluffs up and turns dreamy.
Pour straight into your silicone moulds. Hearts, stars, bundts or just a plain container and chop them up once set.
Get every last drop in there. This batch makes about 20 small gummies or 6 of my huge ones, depending on your mould size.
Two hours in the fridge and they pop out of the moulds like a dream. SO SATISFYING.
Thermomix: Add the berries, butter, eggs, gelatin, honey, and lime juice to the bowl. Cook 8 min / 80°C / Speed 2. No Thermomix? Heat everything gently in a saucepan over low heat until the gelatin’s fully melted, then blitz it in a blender until smooth and glossy.
Thermomix: Add the yoghurt and mix 1-min / Speed 8 — this is where it’ll get a little fluffier and absolutely no fruit chunks left. No Thermomix? Add the yoghurt to your blender and blitz for about 1 minute, or until a little fluffy.
Pour into moulds, or just a big glass container; you can always chop it into squares once set. Pop in the fridge for 2 hours to set. Try not to eat the mixture straight from the bowl, it is SOOOO GOOD!!!
