Healthy Butter Apples Slow Cooker Recipe

Heard of Hot Butter Apples before?
What about Caramel Apples?
Well, this slow cooker recipe of mine is a hybrid of both!
It's my healthy take on Butter Apples made in the Slow Cooker, and my crew gives it a firm 10/10!When my babes were smaller, under 3-years-old, I would make these often. I wouldn't add the sugar, and I kept the spices to just cinnamon, and boy did they LOVE them! Fast forward 10 years, and I still make these often; I just now let my slow cooker do all the hard work.

Description

Heard of Hot Butter Apples before? What about Caramel Apples? Well, this recipe of mine is a hybrid of both! It's my healthy take on Butter Apples made in the Slow Cooker, and my crew gives it a firm 10/10!

Ingredients

6-10 large apples, peeled and 3cm slices
1 heaped tbsp tapioca flour
1/4 cup sugar
100g butter, cubed
1 heaped tspn cinnamon
1/4 tspn cloves
Pinch nutmeg

Instructions

Peel your apples and chop them into thin slices, about 2cm thick. I use this great tool to speed things up: https://amzn.to/43IGQWU
Into the slow cooker with your sliced apples and add all the other ingredients in.
Stir and pop the lid on to cook for 2-hours on high.
With 30-mins to go, check the apples are nearly cooked to your liking. My crew like them still slightly crunchy so I leave the lid off (or turn it to the side) for the last 1/2 an hour of cooking.
Serve any which way and enjoy!
